The newspieces I have read all have different details. Again, those different details should give everyone (and not just us at GC) pause before claiming one thing or another with anything close to confidence.

Now, I would think that if a weapon (or weaponized item, say, a beer bottle) had been used, it would have been mentioned already by the police. If it is a justifiable homicide, the fact of the use of a weapon or weaponized item doesn't destroy the case, so they can reveal it.

Now, this is the first reference I see that there were people within the visual field. If they are in a room enclosed from other rooms and the outside, even if no doors are locked, it's one thing. If they are within the visual field of others, you are right - molestation no longer makes any sense, not even consensual play, at that.

The fact that it was in Texas, personally, is a large factor, for me, against a premeditated setup. If it were a premeditated setup, in Texas, the father would have used a gun. Period. This is not DC, or worse, Britain, where the father would go to jail for the gun even in the case of justifiable homicide.

All that said... yes, Baldur has a point. Salem stopped when nobody was safe from accusations; the new Salem will at least be very weakened when the same happens. (A reason why I, tactically, insist in and praise the literal enforcement of AOC and KP laws when they make minors offenders, and oppose Romeo and Juliet AOC exemptions and sexting KP exemptions). If it were proven that the father used a molestation claim as a get out of jail free card, it will start undermining the witch hunt mindset. Many who might not be particularly inclined to care for us, will start caring for us because they care for themselves. Paradoxically, if the father was still released without charges or with small charges, that would in turn be better for this than if he were convicted of murder first degree upon finding out he lied to cover himself.
