I agree, and among all the usual "pedophile kidnaps/murders child" news stories we've seen here over the years, there were two cases where we believed the kidnapper/murderer actually had a pedophilic sexual orientation - in one case because the murderer had a long-term consensual relationship with a girl before he murdered her (and he had a criminal history for real crimes as well), and the other case was a man who came to believe the propaganda that he must be a murdering monster and finally he snapped and decided to fulfill the role that he had been told was his (that was the one who killed several Amish girls). In neither case was pedophilia the actual cause of these crimes, and in at least the second case (and possibly the first) anti-pedophilia was the primary contributing factor to the crime.

But the fact remains - sexual orientation played a part in Jeffrey Dahmer's crimes, just as heterosexual orientation played a part in the crimes of Ted Bundy. Still, it is one thing to report factual circumstances and it is another thing to create fiction (or deliberately misinterpret facts) to ascribe to pedophilia (or homosexuality, etc.) the guilt for crimes that are only tangentially related. This is especially true for a minority that is already being attacked from every angle.
