Perhaps it was because '95/'96 was also the year where the destructive regimens that kept them tiny started being discussed in earnest.

There's still room in the sport for those whose natural physique is slight. But thank Ghu that trying to force regular sized girls into being teeny-tinies is no longer acceptable. ( Though, like yourself, I find the little ones to be aesthetically pleasing. )

Some of the ladies at the Trials were a bit top-heavy for Olympic Gymnasts. ( Not necessarily for collegiate-skill Gymnasts. But we expect Olympians to not have to deal with the same center-of-gravity issues. ) Particularly Alicia Sacramone ( who didn't make the team ) and ⚠️ ↗Aly Raisman ( who did. )

Nice looking young ladies. But they are putting the "womens" in "Women's Gymnastics." And we can't have that. ;p
