You seem to think that all we have is written: books and documents. That is entirely false. Sure, they tend to help more than hinder, even when they aren't perfectly reliable. But there are a lot more things used to learn things about the past than books and written documents.

I don't think that and that is why I mentioned all the related sciences so that evidence from many different areas can be used to make our assessments more accurate. I just do not believe we have arrived at such a position yet regarding human history. I will cite one example. We now have the ability to analyse the chemical and radiological evidence from past eras so as to make better guesses at what has happened in our past geological history. Perhaps we will be better at solving what happened relating to out human history by similar means.
