"Nowhere was the U.S.A. mentioned in that statement.
Can you think of another country that would have done the same?
No, I didn't think you could."

...and will continue to live for as long as his feats remain in our hearts and memories.

And yes, his words betray a generosity of spirit. He described his act as a 'giant leap for mankind'. He did not say a 'giant leap for America' as he well could have done, or even, 'that's one up the ass for the Ruskis.' No, he dedicated his act to ALL of us.

Neither would he have needed to spend months thinking up his words.

Many words and phrases have been coined which have stayed with us for long. Not immortal words, perhaps, but simple words which have struck a chord and can echo down the generations.

'Never, in the field of human conflict, has so much been owed by so many to so few.'

'I will return.'

'I'll be back.'

'Do you think you're lucky, punk?'

'I am not a crook.'

'You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!'

'Oral sex is NOT sex.'

I feel sure that many amongst us will be able to correctly attribute those phrases.

W.
