All progress and change is made in steps, and this, IMO, is a major step in the right direction. This also shows that people who continue to take civil rights seriously, and who refuse to let emotion trump reason when they fear the very concept of civil liberties are at stake, prefer to live with offensive material in people's possession than live in a police state. Progress or backward step? As I've commented, this particular 'freedom' is a step too far, when trimming the laws and being much more sensible with these issues is the way to go. Scandinavia has had less problems with child nudity for decades for example, particularly in their media and films, why just point to the US and UK as defining the 'problem'. Campaign for looser controls not for abandoning them.
