Why THEY don't care about her.

That may be the case for some.

Yes. If we care about victims we care about their opinion. And if we care about causing harm where none was formerly present we care about the "victim's" opinion. There is no context in which the child's opinion ought to be irrelevant if we care about the child.

But, of course, many don't.

Indeed, it is.

And yet there is nothing she or her lawyers can do to get the images removed.

They are the centerpiece of an FBI sting site. And the FBI could care less about exploiting her this way, or her opinion of it.

Now either you can believe in magical reoffense or not. ( I haven't seen any valid argument equating the image to the crime which applies only to one kind of assault image while exempting all others. ) But the very folks whose prosecutions depend on it cannot believe it when they do it to someone whose testimony is clear about the specific images.

While I believe her claim to feel hurt from the knowledge; I don't believe that it trumps the necessity to impartially review evidence. But I certainly believe that those ruining lives over claims of harm-upon-viewing have no business "creating and distributing" the images they "know" to cause harm.

And yes, I do agree that ( particularly in a digital age ) creation and distribution are linked to viewing. If war crimes are bad, it awful that cell-phone footage is emerging from Syria. Those who report it are clearly to blame for it happening. And we'd all rather hide our heads than know that these things happen, right?

But hey. The real goal should be to prevent all cell-phone footage. To equate your trip-to-the-zoo with human atrocity footage. We certainly wouldn't care to parse, or question what was happening in front of the camera? Right?

But yes, thanks for bringing up the callous dismissal of Masha's opinion by those who've made it their business to act in her name by doing what she specifically asks them not to.
