In that case, don't allow victims (or their parents) to testify to lawmakers about their abuse. What's fair for the goose.

I'm sure you knew what I meant here - that one cannot base an opinion concerning child sexual abuse issues based upon one's own personal experiences, especially when they can influence one's thinking with regard to how one perceives what is 'normal' and what isn't. Some abuse leaves affects and for some it doesn't but although it might illuminate what occurs it might not give much knowledge concerning all abuse. It is more that we should not let our own abuse influence how we think about the larger questions.
