You really insist on persuading them that their experiences are nothing like they imagined and yet you do not see the condescension in your comments? You really want to rethink some of this since I know this will dent some of the thinking on GC but it is a fact that many of these victims see their abuse perfectly correctly. We might differ on the numbers but I would suggest we give them the benefit of the doubt and that they are not conditioned by society. You say they are but you will have to prove that. Not Rind either.

Well if they are going to see their abuse perfectly correctly, what is the need then of drilling it into their heads all the time until they buck? That would be then unnecessary, and by forcing the issue it's very probably worse for the abused child.

Probably ths saddest harm comes from paedophiles not accepting their desire to justify their attractions and particularly when they invariably do cause harm to those they get sexually involved with.

Except I assume that victory will not come in my lifetime. It is personal to me in that I can include myself, but it is not in that I don't expect to see anything that I advocate for. (This is also part why I differ from others, like Markaba himself, in that I don't think it's tactically necessary or advisable to focus on rights and issues of pedophiles)

Thats the GC conspiracy theory at work. The UN or any of these other agencies has not that much impact when local laws are what count. There is still a wide range of AOC's all around the world still for instance.

Yes, but UN validation (and often money) is used by domestic lawmakers or agencies to advocate to legitimize and push local AOC reforms to increase the ages or the penalties; and to add associated offenses like porn, prostitution, work, marriage and trafficking. See for instance the Pakistani row about raising legal ages.

Besides and on top of this, the UN does decide the international definitions of "children" that are to be used worldwide for any other legal definitions. This has extraordinary implications for the prosecution of pedophiles worldwide, because it de facto bans law shopping for a jurisdiction that allows more than another, because you are still subject to extradition and Interpol powered prosecutions according to the international definition of a child. In case you wonder, the UN definition of a child is anyone below 18. And it's the main reason why I love it that the USA hasn't signed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It's the last bulwark remaining. God bless a Republican majority Senate!
