I've met many other pedophiles, and sexual orientation aside, they have absolutely nothing in common. A group of pedophiles is virtually indistinguishable from a randomly selected group in most ways.
Studies of so-called pedophiles in prison determined they had below average intelligence, problems with impulse control, and all the personality traits you would expect from a random sampling of the prison population.
A study of pedophiles on internet forums such as GC will reveal they are cautious, somewhat tech savvy, and have personality traits you'd expect from a random sampling of people on internet forums whose topic is controversial.
... in order to research how this integrates best in a society where it is otherwise often being hated and condemnation.
Vallhund has a point. If you want to explore how pedophiles can integrate into society, you need to explore the society, not the pedophile. Society believes pedophiles do not have a right to exist. They deny we exist, and at the same time, claim we are monsters that need to be dismembered and killed.
I integrated quite nicely when I was in my 20's. I lived with my little girlfriend and her parents, who were my age. Once the husband understood I did not desire the wife, and both parents understood I was not a threat to their daughter, everyone was happy for several years. I helped them buy their first home, and life was easier and more enjoyable with a third adult to help. But if someone outside our family had a problem with it, it could have been disastrous.
I exist, and I can not change my sexual orientation. These are the 2 reasons people like me are hated and condemned. What use is it to study the object of people's hatred when clearly it is the unreasonable and hysterical people who hate that have the problem? You are sociology majors, not psychology majors, so study the society and not the individual.
Or do another pointless study that offers no solutions. It's only a bachelor thesis.
