We are no different than any other species that establishes packs. We socialize, establish a leader and hierarchy, set rules, etc. There will always be an alpha and omega. Like most packs, hardly anyone is equal to one another. Parents job is to prepare their offspring for them to become value members of the pack which yield them to be alpha of their own little pack, and to protect their offspring. Other members of the main pack help the parents prepare and protect their young recognizing the alpha role the parent has. Just like any other animal packs, the young don't become part of the main pack until sexual maturity.

In short, you need to recognize the position the parent has in their own little pack when addressing their offspring. You would never be an alpha, but you could be a beta. In the beta position, you help the parent with the main goal which is to prepare the child to become a value member of the main pack. The ultimate goal is for the pack survival.
