Partly: The same thing that having going through tonnes of friends through the years tells me: people change. I certainly have changed significantly compared to how I was 3 years ago. And 6 years ago I was much different than I was 3 years ago. Etc.

I have a friend I use to hang out with a lot when I was in elementary school who I stopped hanging out with in Jr. High and High school and now I hang out with him often (when I'm in town) again.

I've never lost a friend to any type of fight as far as I know- we've just drifted away.

Partly: Society expectations start having more of an effect- young children aren't expected to date or have interest in each other. They grow up and start having those expectations. And who can blame them for wanting to be with younger people- I certainly can understand.

Understanding of independent agency is present in many 2 year olds, so I'm not sure what that has to do with pedophiles. And even newborns make their desires known.

Also, many tweens and teen do pair with adults. Of course its made illegal for them to do much. Still, many do it anyways.
