I do have the feeling that it could predate Guevara. He made the quote famous, of course. But he also made famous quotes that aren't his originals.

Emiliano Zapata, though? Hmm. He was a good military commander and a great social leader, but he was not an intellectual. I find it a little hard to see him saying things like this.

You still got me thinking. I will try to source this more safely.
