Against what?

With our heads in the sand we will never know what is coming.

At the very least we must keep current with the ever-shifting laws being used to persecute us.

Wandering into an LEO's clutches because we wanted to retreat to our own community and shut out new laws is suicide.

They're stupid enough that we can defend our identity and ideas even in the face of their blather. But just because they're stupid doesn't mean that Nons and Antis aren't a threat.

Further, refusal to engage intellectually breeds a weak mind.

Sure, we should focus more on the laws and their rationalizations than on cranks who believe we're devil-worshippers or lizard-men from Sirius. But it doesn't need to be "fixation" to be good mental hygiene as well as a wise precaution.
