I always try to understand someone else's point of view. Someone posted a link to this in the Virtuous Pedophiles support group, and I thought it was worth sharing. I don't know if he represents common views in the profession.

The therapists are in an uncomfortable position. But I think mandated reporter laws are awful, and a big part of it is what it does to the children.

I was thinking how women would feel if adult rape was a mandated reporting offense. I think they would feel very disempowered. They want to be able to talk about it with a therapist and decide for themselves who else to tell. But girls and boys are given no option whatsoever. It seems they in consultation with their parents should have the primary say.
