Yes. Definitely a sadist and not "temporarily insane."

He beats the guy unconscious. And then walks away from the attack in a deliberate search for a weapon to kill a prone comatose victim with. We are no longer talking about a violent reaction to a shocking sight which was taken too far.

And does this guy sound like someone whose violence took him by surprise? Or does he sound like someone who is reserving the right to beat or kill for a future occasion?
