Just a piece of clarifictation:

When I said "the issue is just far too muddied", the issue I was referring to was whether it was more likely for a pedo / telio to be a molester; the ratio could be swayed in one direction or the other when different factors are taken into account, but generally-speaking the reliably sourced data you would need to make a definitive claim just isn't there. Then, later, when I said that "statistics suggest...", I was referring directly to the simple ratio of total # of pedos in the U.S. / # of pedos in jail in the U.S. for molesting kids.
