Pedophiles are like any other group. Most are good, a few are evil, some are somewhere in between. The problem isn't pedophilia in and of itself. The problem is that pedophilia is poorly understood and treated in society. The problem is that a small minority of pedophiles are sociopaths or psychopaths. The problem is that society conflates all types of pedophiles as well as all chronophilias that involve or can involve minors (nepiophilia, pedophilia, hebephilia, ephebophilia). It certainly is possible for someone to abuse someone they love, either by neglect (the most prevalent form of child abuse) or mental, physical or sexual abuse (the least prevalent form of child abuse). The vast, vast majority of child abuse is not committed by pedophiles, but it's silly to argue that pedophiles are incapable of child abuse whether it's by neglect or physical or sexual abuse. Let's try to stop making absolute statements one way or another.
