FOX23 went to JonesÂ’ home on Monday but no one answered the door. McAlester police said anything, including writing, painting and sculpture, can be considered child pornography. Perhaps under Canadian or UK law, but not in the US and any defense lawyer worth his salt should be able to get the charges dropped if this is all they can come up with. If this story had been published, then perhaps obscenity charges could come up, but since he only had it for his personal use, I don't think that will stick either. Police do not believe Jones had any inappropriate physical contact with the girls. With the help of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, McAlester police will now look through JonesÂ’ computer for additional evidence. Unless they can find some illegal images, I doubt just writing a story for personal use will lead to a conviction. If it somehow does, an appeals court would likely throw out the charges. So fortunately, I believe Mr. Jones will not be sent to prison. But unfortunately his reputation and standing in society will be irreparably damaged. |
