"First, I'll tell you what I think I would have done. First, enjoy it as long as I found it fun and enjoyable. Second, say, "I'm not enjoying this any more at all." If that had no effect, say "If you don't stop by the time I count to ten, I'm going to hang up." Count to ten. If she doesn't stop, say "bye" and hang up."

As you hear, Dissident ended up doing exactly that. But not before he had put up with Jennie for a long time.

There was something Dissident wanted from Jennie - to be allowed to resume talking to Renee. It was something Dissident could not take from Jennie even though Jennie was 7 and unreasonable, and something that Dissident also was reluctant to give up, even though eventually he did. But first he tried what he could to persuade Jennie, even though Jennie was unreasonable.

Dealing with unreasonable adults is also something that adults need to do as well. "Because I say so" may be a reasonable answer to say to a salesman... but, e. g. talking to a shop assistant asking for refund, the alternative of suing the business at a court is so costly and time-consuming (and giving up the refund also costly) that it makes sense to try to persuade the assistant then and there.
