In the wider world, the overwhelmingly popular belief is that adult-child sex is fundamentally wrong and people shouldn't engage in it.
Well I don't think that is necessarily true. What you mean is that wealthy western society is good at imposing their moralities from a privileged position on the developing world. For instance children should never work or have sex, if they do then these families in poorer nations are morally corrupt. So they're brow beaten into feeling guilty until they adapt to our moralities. Another overwhelmingly popular belief is that children are not especially oppressed by the adults around them except in individual cases of abuse. Yes, much like the overwhemingly popular view in the last century was that women didn't feel repressed by having few rights, they felt protected and loved by their male handlers. Youth liberation is broad and important and to many in society a very alien concept as was the idea that women or black people would even want or be capable of having an opinion or being able to think for themselves. Black men were savages, women had smaller simpler brains. Today we think the same of children, they are incapable of opinion or complex thought processes, we must handle and think for them. What many here argue is that children are capable or complex thought and opinion, in many societies they prove this. In the west I would say we have a broad kind of abuse of the most terrible kind. In the west we strip children of rights and we socially engineer them to be dolls for adults to rule over. Keep them innocent and cute and if they express opinion or anything that doesn't fit our social model we send them to the shrink to get them fixed. In the west we want to keep this group repressed and packed in our neat social model. In my mind this is the worst kind of child abuse. |
