Care to cite anything to support the disparaging claim?
( OK, having gotten the obligatory to-be-ignored request for validation of factual claims out of the way..... )
I don't lurk at ToC, nor read it religiously, let alone its list of replies to posts.
But I do recall that at the time ToC called an end to the lengthy guest posts of yours he cited your evasiveness over external proof of factual claims ( which he suspected was tantamount to saying any old thing to "score points" in an argument. ) It wasn't that your opinion differed, it was that you refused to support its claims with citations.
Much later, before he kicked you off, he was still dealing with the same issue and finding an actual citation ( albeit one that was factually wrong ) to be a shocking novelty.
"So, in the context of this particular discussion, I’d say Ethan is completely wrong.
A positive feature, though, is that Ethan has at least ventured into the world of evidence, rather than his usual stock in trade of reasoning detached from reality, leading to baseless speculation and assertion." --- https://tomocarroll.wordpress.com/2014/11/21/inadmissible-testimony/
GC is a both a public open forum, and a place where folks can talk about feelings, dreams and other matters that are not necessarily sourced. Tom's blog is his, and its stock in trade is the discussion of science, history and politics as occasioned by cited external facts. Its rather natural that you wore out his hospitality with your game-playing long ago.
But its not as though he hadn't made it clear that it was the game-playing and not the POV you were supporting through your evasions.
But yeah, go ahead and believe that he didn't call you on it.
If you can cite Tom to the contrary, I will read the citation. Otherwise, don't bother making sh*t up about him.
And don't be surprised if you go elsewhere on the net and find that even if "Cite or STFU" isn't employed as a phrase, that it will be employed as a standard when you're making assertions and allegations, even if it is utterly alien to VirPed standards of convo.
