This election presents a serious opportunity for change. While there's about a snowball's chance in hell that Johnson will win, it's possible for him to actually show as a contender. Unfortunately, of course, the Libertarians once again have the same damn asshole representing the party in the election. Johnson's not very libertarian and isn't a very strong candidate, or else he might actually be formidable.
Even with a weak third party candidate like Johnson, the intense distrust, dislike, and outright hatred for both main candidates by voters from both parties can make a statement. Johnson can't win, but he can prove that this idiotic two party system isn't necessary, and by the next election, there very well could be a strong third party (assuming American survives until then). If it's broken, you fix it. It might take time and a hell of a lot of effort to fix, but you don't just keep putting duct tape on it hoping that it'll hold together indefinitely. If America can make it through this, America has a chance at meaningful change in the political game. If you accept the status quo, then there can be no change. ![]() |
