Assuming it's someone they want to have sex with and there is no coercion or pain? No, we are right. Overwhelmingly right.

There is no harm inherent in the activity itself, and when a relationship turns sexual and is discovered, it is wonderful (if rife with anxiety) until it is discovered or until the child learns how "abusive" it was and reconceptualizes the memories through a lens of societal disgust.

And if the adult was a loving and positive role in the child's life, it's no wonder that this "revelation" causes psychological anguish. Not to mention how damaging it is for a child to lose that someone special in his or her life especially if he or she has been there for a long time and/or is actively providing a lot of support, and especially in a sudden and violent way that they may not fully comprehend.

If I was suddenly torn from my special little girl's life for such reasons, she would be severely disadvantaged and possibly traumatized depending on how things played out... Not because of consensual pleasure, but because of ALL those other reasons. The connection drawn between the consensual pleasure and the trauma is a red herring. It ALWAYS traces back to society's violent bigotry.

And to target paedophiles is as such a wrong way of approaching the situation because paedophilia can not be removed from the equation short of genocide. The target NEEDS to be the bigotry. End of story. Those who target pedophiles are on the losing side.
