Curious - steel soles are not common. Typically safety shoes just have a steel toe (or for some workers, similar protection from non-conductive materials).
The only footwear I know of with steel soles are jungle boots, designed to prevent punji sticks from injuring the feet. I've never had any problems wearing either jungle boots or steel-toed boots, though I know that some people have complained that the steel toes get cold and make their toes cold, or otherwise hurt the toes. What has been described here just sounds like a bad fit. Baldur |
