And in automobile racing, if anything I would imagine a lower weight would be advantageous, though the difference would be miniscule.

And while automobile racing requires upper body strength, there is a maximum upper limit as to what is required. The male drivers may be strong, but they're not champion weight lifter strong. There should be women with the necessary upper body strength to compete.

And yet, as you say, men dominate the sport. You say that this is a sport where the mentality required favors men - well, that supports my point.
