I beg to differ

The Vegas Shooting shows what can happen when people with an attraction to children become so dissociated from the rest of society that they lose their minds (i.e., they have not enough support derived from whatever combination of resources are available to them). This is the consequence of social ostracizing taken to an extreme (although it seems that with the most recent generation of girl-lovers - and, more importantly, the most recent generation of children - we are coming back from that hysterical mindset to a much more well-tempered one.

Or, it could just be a basic lunatic who happened to have a child porn addiction. Either way you look at it, the point is that assuming coincidence in these matters, or - another way of stating it would be - simplifying them in order to make them easier for a mass audience to digest, i.e. "scapegoating" - is what prevents real social progress from happening even when any eyes open can see that there is a better way.

And frankly, given what my experience has been so far as a modern "pedophile" or girl-lover in spite of the far-more-generous-than-typical levels of support I've been given by my closest friends and family, and the binding trust and respect - or in other words, humanity - with which I've been treated by everyone dear to me: I am still far more apt to believe that the Vegas Shooter shooter's demonstrated incompatibility with neo-Western values (by means of his child-porn-collecting habit) was at least in some capacity tied to the penchant for hatred of self (and therefore hatred of otherness) which eventually lead to this tragedy.

It's a lack of opportunity to experience love which makes a sociopath, and a lack of opportunity for salvation to eventual no-fear-of-consequence that causes a sociopath to have a psychotic breakdown.

You can reason the other way, but it's not a useful way when it comes to actually solving problems.

And what follows from the useless way of thinking is, of course, bullshit: human law - that is, social customs - taking precedence over the very values that Western society wants to promote: independent thought, communication, creativity, compromise, beauty; divine romantic ideals supported by the most profound framework of mutual respect, trust, devotion, and sincerely-felt love.
