Elle Fanning AND Selena Gomez

This dynamic duo are going to be in Woody Allen's upcoming film slated for release this year.

............

I hope the film survives the attempt by the Farrow camp to hi-jack the #me too movement.

--------------

The movement is about the very real phenomenon of actors coming forward with unsolicited and uncoached testimony about workplace harassment and sexual assault at the hands of those using their power in the industry to bully and silence their victims.

There suddenly seem to be quite a few folks trying to hijack this attempt to clean-up the workplace with salacious stories that have nothing to do with power-relations created by employment conditions.

As with the well-defended Azis Ansari, the mere combo of being a male entertainer who is deemed by some to be skeevy should not be enough for the disgruntled to try to demand that the movement recognize the new claim or itself be complicit.

I'm sure that Dylan believes what she claims about Woody. Even if that were true, she has already made her claim repeatedly. Many women also claim to have been molested outside of the context of the movement's raison d'ĂȘtre. Oprah manages to further the cause without hijacking it with her story of childhood rape.

It seems to me that these two things are best served by not being conflated.

As for Dylan, I believe that she believes what she is saying. And I believe that she was abused, the same way that the Mc'Martin preschool kids were abused by being relentlessly grilled until manufactured traumatic memories were implanted.

It is sad that Dylan's insistence that everyone validate her claims not only hijacks something worthwhile and different, but that it also requires her to dismiss her step-brother Moses as a liar and deluded for coming forward with his own tale ( backed by eye-witnesses ) of Mia Farrow's emotional and physical abuse of him and the other kids until they would support whatever account of events she needed to hear.

Anywho, I hope that A Rainy Day In New York gets distributed. The guy is a workhorse who puts out a film a year. About every third or fourth one is quite good. And the Selena/Elle combo sounds delightful.
