Freedom

Freedom does not lie in overcoming the barrier.

Freedom lies in acting as if there is no barrier ( while still taking care not to get cut on the barbed wire as you come and go. )

There are any number of folks who are famous for evading the gatekeepers and thumbing their noses at them. They were not free insofar as they chose to spend their time on the other side of the gate staring back at it in triumph.

As to the political structures. They become more irrelevant every day.
