Unless something drastic takes place, individual rights and privacy will slowly be reduced to a "used to be". Orwell predicted it romantically, we see it today. Consider the famous Alphabet Agencies: FBI, CIA, NSA, ATF, DHS, INS, and hundreds more. Even the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is involved now.
Consider that every single phone conversation is currently being recorded, stored, scanned by computers, and acted upon should something nefarious show up. Every publicly email sent is logged. Even some private ones are. And any website you visit that is not through a VPN like the .onion stuff? All logged along with your interests. Why does Google throw tons of car tire advertisements at you if you ever search for car tire deals in your town?
Ever been in an apartment building elevator visiting a friend? Today, many apartment buildings have CCTV installed. Red light cameras abound on many city streets. Do you shop by credit card? To you have a bank account? Do you have a car? Do you have medical insurance or a medical record stored somewhere? Have you ever had to have a police check done? Have you ever been stopped for a traffic check? Parking infraction?
What you don't know can hurt you. And you think that we will one day be given legal status?
Again, no.
