Ok, I hope this isn't too sappy.
I went to school camp, with a girl B, whom I really (really) liked. We were in the camp dorm, and it was announced that there was a problem with the girls' quarters, so they would have to stay together with us boys. This may seem saccharine, but bear with me. A bunch of us boys ended up visiting the girls' quarters. As far as I know, nothing untoward happened. For me, it was just an emotional impetus. Then, there was a "school dance." One of the teachers, Mrs K, had noticed that I was interested in B. So, apparently, behind the scenes, she had told B that I was interested in her, and to please give me a dance. (Nice of her.) So, we had the dance, and I had a slow dance with B. If I can count the number of times I've experienced true joy in my life, that was one. At the end of the school camp, we did "Skinnamarinky-doo, I love you." I got the chance to hold B's hand in a circle. The music was actually "Xanadu" By Olivia Newton-John. Great memories. |
