Recently the GOP proved its inability to police itself enough to avoid having someone climb to the top whose goal is to sh*t on the legacy and to remove all the conservatives from office.

This comes as a shock that the party of "law and order" couldn't order the orange one out using its bylaws.

Even Dems ought ( in theory ) to be able to prevent someone against them from taking control.

But ordering Libertarians to line up and obey????!

You might as well try herding cats.

You've established that you tend to believe that anyone who persists* isn't swayed to your views when presented with the evidence that convinced you is certainly an idiot and is most likely dishonest.

Most Libertarians, of various stripes, figure that their politics probably don't make much sense to those who aren't from their home planet; and are as eager get into a screaming match with folks who believe that left/right maketh a spectrum as are Atheists likely to go door to door trying to convert Baptists.

This leaves those who enjoy the screaming match to be the online representatives.

As for IRL.....

From what I gather, everyone who ever dormed at college had at least one Randroid roommate there to poison their opinion. For most ( albeit not all ) Rand is a phase one goes through; like thinking that the X-men are profound or that you will never regret that ink you got.

There's also the cooption by the GOP.

But since they were the only party even half-listening, it follows.

That's why its pretty rare when I meet another Libertarian who thinks ( like Hayek ) that its a d*mn shame that socialism can't do what folks turn to it for, because something should.

Those of us who are left-sympathetic Libs aren't common. ( And, as we're on speaking terms with leftism and seem so close; are frustrating to those who would like us to commit to its methods. )
