What she likes, that is.
Although most girls these days are probably taking selfies with their phones, and not clunky prosumer models, I nevertheless like the symbolism of the girl in control of the camera. She decides what and how much to show the world. And if that includes some pictures of her or her friends getting up to typical kid hijinks - like choreographed pool jumps, impromptu sleepover fashion shows, or amateur videotube sing-offs and dance routines (after all, we must let kids be kids, and not stifle their creativity!) - then we should all count ourselves blessed, and not second guess her selfless decision to let us in, even just a little bit, to her wonderful world. The artist is Takamichi, with whom many girl lovers will (and any should) be familiar. His romantic and nostalgic portraits of youthful femininity have oft adorned the covers of Japan's infamous Comic LO. |
