... to tell the truth, I'm not sure exactly what you were trying to say, but I could see that the way you were saying it might lead some very literal-minded people to think that you were advocating bad things.

And it's my job not to let things like that stand.

There were no accusations against you at all, aside from the claim that some might misunderstand you in unfortunate ways.
