"They considered that they had nothing to lose but their chains. Now, of course, this was made easier because they wanted to be with each other. In their couples, both were gay. Both faced the same issue. Both would win or lose simultaneously, together. In our case we cannot do that. The adult may realize they have nothing to lose; but the child faces consequences beyond those the adult can suffer and different from them. You have said that yourself: you don't mind doing time for loving a loli; but you very much mind what society would do to the loli for being loved. Gays never faced the same and that allowed them to be braver in their activism."

The other side of this is that since gays were able to operate relatively openly and win recognition and their rights, they were able to make their peace with the broader culture. That possibility not being open to pedophiles, pedophiles have no choice: if we cannot act openly, then we must not be seen; if we cannot be accepted as equals, if we have nowhere to run, then we must conquer or die.

What is it they say about cornered animals?
