It's a common type of political and rhetorical tactic to tarnish an entire group for what a few among them may periodically say or do. All groups of people have those in their demographic with a less than savory way of expressing themselves and a low concern with tact, and individuals who dislike the demographic in question will typically make a point to only notice those few, as if these few examples are the only ones worth acknowledging when assessing the merits of the group as a whole. |
