She did, however, become progressively less innocent as she discovered the vast majority of adults in her life consider her the property of her parents and would compulsively be dishonest with her in order to preserve said innocence and keep her in ignorance as per their own preference, and then devalue her as an individual whenever she dared to be something other than what they pleased.
