When I first got to the GTA, I spent an entire summer riding my bicycle after work and on weekends, up and down Spadina and through the other streets of Kensington Market. I was fascinated with the (mostly) Cantonese people who lived and worked there.

One day, I had strayed across Spadina and a bit north into a different world. There was this pretty young lady that actually spoke with me while I had parked my bike to enjoy a home-made sandwich. I told her that I was studying the people as they wandered about. Eventually, I began exploring her life, etc., thinking that she was an interesting, non-Asian individual. I soon realized that she was studying me! She was a college girl studying sociology at... University of Toronto. It seemed that my understanding of my whereabouts was lacking. The whole area WAS the U of T! The conversation ended once I felt her interest begin looking at my life before I came back to Canada.
