No, delusion is essentially unfalsifiable. Even when a belief is wrong, the reasons to hold it are not necessarily due to being deluded. As an accusation, it's entirely unproductive. Ignorance is testable and both provable and falsifiable. But the differences between you and him aren't due to lack of information on either side: they're differences in values which no amount of information can bridge in themselves. I'm not sure if I'd call you a liar. But you certainly spend too much ink into strawmanning the pro contact position. Whether that's due to the difference in values, true ignorance or true dishonesty cannot be ascertained from afar; on that much you are right. |
