There's always some humanity

Even cops have some humanity in them.

I often wonder why cops become cops. Some I'm sure become cops to do good. Others because they love the feeling of power that comes with the badge. Others because they have family or friends who are cops while others just because they don't have another profession to follow.

The trouble is being a cop is joining a gang and gang culture can be dangerous and corrupting. If you're running with a group of people who tell you that black people in nice cars are likely up to no good then you might not accept it. Hear it day in and day out for years and it starts to become a mantra you tell yourself. Before long you believe dark skinned people shouldn't be in nice neighbourhoods, pedophiles are all rapists, hookers deserve what they get and when someone who still has their humanity challenges you then you feel offended at the snow flake.

Of course even after many years there's still some humanity under there, I don't think that's ever fully erased.
