Two things I can think of. Or maybe three. War is hugely profitable to many very wealthy people. The arms industry makes boatloads of cash for their investors.

Russia is a VAST place with some of the world's last largely untapped natural resources, and what is that? It's a treasure trove of money.

Russia is also a stick in the eye to globalist minded powers in the US, the EU, etc... they refuse to give up their nationalist control to globalists, and it's infuriating to the very same people who believe the Trump election must be reversed.

(And I'm not even into Trump, just know he's a necessary precursor to something better.)
