What we see now, where sex is considered the best thing in the world for adults, and the worst thing in the world for children, is a hybrid of puritanism and feminism. Wanting to enjoy sex themselves, but also wanting to maintain something of tradition to appease the older generations, the people who came up with this system discarded the best aspects of both puritanism and feminism, retained the most profound defects, and called it good.
