Not really. You have never (that I remember) claimed a particular expertize on anything. The problem is that this is an indictment of critical thinking and individual conclusions, to instead defer to someone else. In your case, an Argument of Authority; but it could just as well be an Ad Populum. Both are withdrawals from thinking, in favor of something else. What that something else is could be elitist or could be mob rule, but both are attempts to avoid the responsibilities of critical thinking.

That's scary no matter what subject we're talking about, whether experts (or mobs) are right or wrong on it, or whether the claim has an effect on ourselves or society. But when it is an important subject, with real world effects, and they're wrong (or no truth has been achieved either way yet), it's even more scary.
