It don't matter

Well, it doesn't matter to me. Politics are designed to give other people something that they can like and accept, all the while lying to you about it. I have yet to find an exception to that rule.

People hate. That's a given. There's nothing you can do about it. Often, they hate something about you (or someone else) that has no basis. For example, one day an African Canadian began arguing with me (I forget about what) and eventually he claimed that I was racist. I am obviously not African Canadian but I laughed at him. Of course, he grew more intense claiming various things about my racism. A few moments later, this gorgeous 20 year old Jamaican girl came walking up to see what the fuss was about. Keep in mind that, at the time, I was just in my fifties. The girl asked what the problem was. Of course my opponent moved to protect the young girl from such a racist old fart as me. It was quite plain to see that this fellow hated me for what he thought was my hatred of his race. Then, I introduced the young girl to the fellow as my wife.

I am not, as you can see, racist. The poor fellow was getting emotional from what he thought, not from what reality was. The three of us ended up at a local Tim Horton's and enjoyed the rest of the day.

Be yourself. (To thine own self be true.) To hell with what other people think of you unless they are physically attacking you.

Perhaps you've seen this before, but I shall copy the philosophy here:

• Make peace with your past so it won't disturb your present.

• What other people think of you is none of your business.

• Time heals almost everything. Give it time.

• No one is in charge of your happiness, except you.

• Don't compare your life to others and don't judge them. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

• Stop thinking too much. It's alright not to know the answers. They will come to you when you least expect it.

• You don't own all the problems in the world.
