From pedo- +‎ -phile, after Ancient Greek παιδοφῐ́λης (paidophílēs) (from παῖς (paîs, “boy, child”) and φιλέω (philéō, “I love”)).

For me, seeing a female between the ages of 6 and 9 is like seeing god. I know, it's an overused euphemism, but it applies to me. I am not very public about my pedophilia because too many people have an incorrect understanding of the word and its application to me. However, I don't think there is anyone on this planet, now, in the past, nor in the future, that can love a little girl as much as I can. So, in a private way, I am proud to be a pedophile. Just not the way society wants to think.

The key root of it all is philéō: I love.
