Are you still in touch with your PhD friends? I would like to know why they think intergenerational relationships destroy civilization.

Chimpanzees have bloody rivalries and face eating. Bonobos are peaceful and highly sexual. Their sexuality seems to serve a social function. They engage in a variety of sexual behaviors with many partners of both sexes and all ages. There are elements of human sexuality which suggest a similarly open sexuality in our own evolutionary history. I don't believe humans are monogamous. I think our love of sexual variety might be something which, like bonobos, strengthens social bonds. We are aroused at the sight and sounds of other people having sex, threesomes are a common fantasy, women are receptive while not ovulating and the glans penis and prolonged intercourse serve to pump out previously deposited semen. And we have so much non-reproductive sex. What is the reproductive function of a blowjob? If youth express sexual curiosity and desire for each other and for adults maybe it's because they're supposed to. It's one of the ways we socialize.

You think there are genuinely loved youth who believe they are being manipulated or abused based solely on the illegality? Maybe. I do think talking about it is the way to find out.

Thank you for the memory, Eeyore. I threw my fear in the sea.
