He was a gentle girl lover in a brief click of time when it was semi-safe to be one. He's sorta fallen into obscurity (go figure).

He has a few other songs about younger girls, always with a gentle, reverent tone.

Not the only songs worth a listen, either. My favorite Halloween song is Season of the Witch. It has a very odd and somewhat spine tingling musical refrain. I may be one of only a handful who ever heard its recording echoing through a sport stadium at high volume. In any case, an underappreciated musician.

As for mellow yellow, I always thought that was an old 60's slang term for Valium. Yet another reason I am thankful I never had regular access to pills. They would have been my undoing for sure. I don't know how famous people cope in that regard.
