The age of consent isn't about consent. The age of consent is about purity enforcement. Whereas fornication used to be prosecuted by prosecuting two criminals age of consent is now prosecuted by prosecuting a predator and a victim.

Age of consent is still misdirection. It isn't about protecting children. It is about protecting the perceived purity of children.

It is rather pointless to debate a misdirection.
