That's what they want you to think

The NSA, FBI, etc. want everyone to believe that they can see everything, and that Tor, the deep web, etc. are completely compromised by them so people will be too afraid to do anything. I'm definitely not saying it's completely safe, but it's not realistic to say things like the deep web offer no protection.

>>The only thing that will protect you is not doing anything illegal online

It's easy to say that - there are a lot of cases I've come across of people in prison who didn't even want to see or download CP, came across it, and got arrested and sentenced - cases where the details show it's completely obvious they weren't out looking for it. One case, for example, was a man who was downloading a music video (based on the file name) which turned out to be CP, he then deleted it off his computer - I think he got five years in prison.

My point being that there's no way to be alive and to reduce your chance of going to prison to zero. There's a lot more to my claim than that, including the fact that how CP is defined, for example, is not clear cut at all. From justice.gov:

>>A picture of a naked child may constitute illegal child pornography if it is sufficiently sexually suggestive.

What the hell is that? "Sufficiently sexually suggestive"? If you downloaded a picture that turned out to be "sufficiently sexually suggestive," you're already guilty, and if you look at nude pictures for example, how would you even know whether a bunch of people you never even met before would consider the picture "sufficiently sexually suggestive"? That can be interpreted to apply to almost anything in that group - and a lot of people have dealt with legal problems over pictures that were completely innocent. One case I read about was a guy who got sentenced for having legal pics of clothed children in the same folder as adult pornography. Many other issues could be raised.
