The U.S. far left has been pushing for full statization of the health system and arguing that this is necessary because health costs are too high. An analysis of the disaster that is full statization of health care is beyond the scope of this post. And the causes of high costs are manifold (not least, that the USA, as a developed country, is low on cheap diseases and high on expensive ones which are a secondary product of high development). But to have genital cutting being provided by hospitals wastes resources that can and should be used for actually fighting disease; therefore increasing the costs of actually fighting disease.
